Why families pick us

Small dogs, serious standards.

5 puppies available across 2 litters, and a great deal of attention paid to each one.

Raised in our home

No kennels, no cages. Our puppies grow up underfoot — around the vacuum, the doorbell, the kids and the cat.

Vet checked & up to date

Every puppy leaves with age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming complete, and a veterinary health certificate.

3-year health guarantee

Backed by a written guarantee against life-threatening congenital and hereditary conditions.

Raised back-aware

A long spine is this breed’s one real vulnerability. Our puppies are lifted properly from the start, and we will show you how.

Our story

16 years of Dachshunds.

Melissa’s Doxies is a small family programme built around one breed and one variety of it: the miniature long-haired Dachshund. Melissa Evans founded it in 2010, and we keep our numbers deliberately low — 3 litters this season — because the things that matter most for this breed cannot be done at scale.

That means puppies raised underfoot rather than in a kennel, deliberate socialisation around children and other dogs, and an honest conversation about backs, stairs and weight before you commit rather than after.

  • Parents you can look atEvery listing shows the sire and dam — date of birth, weight, registry, coat, and any OFA certification they carry.
  • Handled from the first weekRaised in the house, not a kennel. Picked up, brushed and turned over daily, which is how a coat and a temperament both get easy to live with.
  • Started on the coatThe long coat comes in around four months. We start brushing before it does, so grooming is never a fight later.
  • Lifetime breeder supportWe do not hand a puppy over and disappear. Ask us anything, for as long as you have them.

We drove six hours to pick up Poppy and it was worth every mile.

Dennis Okonkwo at home with their miniature long-haired Dachshund
Rusty is the third Dachshund we have owned and the first that came to us already used to being handled. He lets us brush him, clip his nails and check his teeth without a fight.

I lost my wife in the spring and my daughter thought a dog might help. Gus has not left my side since October.
